Product Obsession: ColourPop

Have you heard of ColourPop yet?  If you have, you can just skip to the swatches.  If not? Well you are in for a treat! I first heard about ColourPop on my favorite makeup chat group on Facebook.  The ladies were all a-buzz one morning about the color selection.  But that's just the beginning of things to  love about this brand!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I visited ColourPop's website.  At the time they were only offering eye shadows, lipsticks and lip liner pencils.  But the colors they offer? Well they really do POP.  Every color of the rainbow, the most daring shades you could ever want, they've got them.  Their Lippie Stix and Lip Pencils come in colors that range from classic to wild, adventurous, and all of them are fashion forward.  And there's a lip liner shade for every single lipstick color they have.  No more searching for that perfect lip liner to compliment your lipstick.  The eye shadows are available in so many colors and finishes that it's way too hard to just pick a few.

One of the very best parts? Each one will run you $5 each.  I'll be honest that this made me a little skeptical.  I was worried it was too good to be true.  After a few Pinterest searches for swatches, I committed.  I'm so very glad I did! The moment these arrived at my door I dug in and basically fell in love.

Can I tell you how much I love the packaging?  Not only were my items wrapped in foam to protect them from damage, but check out that fuchsia branding.  On top of that, each of my packages have included a hand written note.  It really adds that extra little touch.

The 2 orders I placed so far were only for eye shadows and one Lippie Stix.  Right away when you open the shadows, you'll notice that the texture is really different.  I was thinking about how to describe it the other day and the only thing that came to mind is Play-Doh. It's super soft like a cream almost but not quite.  The colors come off extremely beautifully pigmented.  I can't say that I have a product that I could compare them to.  They give the color pay off of a pigment, but they aren't messy and powdery at all.  With Colour Pop shadows there's no messy fallout like pigments often do.

That being said, there is kind of a learning curve with these because of the texture.  I haven't had great success with using brushes with these, except for blending.  I went to the Internet searching for answers and found out that these work better when applied by finger.  This worried me a bit because I have medium length nails that would dent the pot if I wasn't paying attention.  And I am not great with applying eye shadows with my fingers at all since I've been using brushes for years.  What I did find that worked was using a regular sponge eyeshadow applicator like these.  I gently press down on the color and swirl it around in a circle and apply and it's amazing.  Gorgeous lovely clean application.  If I'm doing a smokey eye(which is 8 days a week), I use a nice fluffy blending brush to soften the edges and that works wonderfully.
Since I only ordered 1 Lippie Stix, I only have one swatch to show you.  I choose Bound because it has a glossy finish which is and easy everyday look for me.  I absolutely love it.  The color on the website is exactly what you get.  The texture is lovely and smooth.  There is a pretty strong vanilla scent, but I love it.

Here's some Colour Pop eyeshadow swatches for you.  They are just heavenly.
Without flash: Tink, Cricket, Lace, Envy, Bae & Rex

Bae is this amazing pink with purple glitter shade that I've got a major crush on right now.

So much shimmer!  But the matte shades will wow you too!
Without flash: Fringe, Tea Party, Bill, Girl Crush, Hustle
Fringe and Tea Party shimmer so hard.  I use Fringe all the time for a brow bone highlight and to add light to the inner corner of my eye.  Tea Party is amazing for adding a punch of shimmer to any matte look.  Bill, Crush, and Hustle are all gorgeous matte.

Hustle is this perfect matte burgundy that is so on trend right now.  Pantone's Color of the Year is Marsala, so you'll be seeing the deep red burgundy everywhere.

Megan Naik & Colour Pop
Speaking of Marsala, the very reason I picked up this set by Megan Naik is because of that gorgeous shimmery shade in the bottom right hand corner called Lectra.
Onai, Amira, Farah, & Lectra
All of these shades really inspire my creative side.  Farah is my second favorite in this set.  It's like  matte hot chocolate fierceness.

The texture, the color payoff, the shade selection and the price are unbelievable.  Plus now they offer blush for just $8.  They're constantly doing fun collaborations and coming up with new colors that are majorly lust-worthy.  Seriously, check out ColourPop ASAP!
